The meals here are popular with tourists and locals alike. One can go on a leg stretch and explore the farm or swim in the pool. BUA RIVER LODGE
Situated right on the banks of the beautiful Bua River and located within the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, this Lodge is a peaceful and heavenly retreat. It has 5 safari tents that include 1 unit for a family of 4. Chill on the very own deck of your safari tent or in the main lodge area and enjoy watching the ever-changing river and landscape it offers. The windows are made of mosquito gauze which keeps out the pesky insects but allows for the cool air to pass through the tent, even on the hottest days it stays cool. Hospitality here is superb with delicious food being offered and open all year round. Children of 13years and above are only allowed with an ideal lengthy stay of 2 – 3 days. Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, also known in Malawi as the Elephant Sanctuary, had 500 elephants moved from other parks within Malawi to this special location. African Elephants are a common sight. Guides are able to track a herd of elephants as there are so plenty of them to set your eyes on as they roam around and if you catch them on a good day, they can be extremely entertaining.

TONGOLE WILDERNESS RETREAT
Set in the relatively unknown and untouched Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, Tongole is a sanctuary for luxury in the wild composed of 4 riverside rooms and 1 family cottage. With the ideal lengthy stay of 3 nights, only 6-year-old children and above are allowed entry. Tongole focuses on gentle walks, birding and canoeing. It is a must-visit for keen birders who want to sit with their binoculars and tick off over 300 species of birds! The lodge offers a luxury stay with a large swimming pool, star deck, incredible food and spacious rooms. With large open fronted chalets, you can have uninterrupted views of the river, the wildlife and also the stars! Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve was taken over by African Parks in 2015 and they really reduced the poaching epidemic. 500 elephants were moved from the parks of Liwonde and Majete to Nkhotakota in a record-breaking translocation. The population is now thriving and after some initial fear of humans they have happily settled in and there are regular sightings of the herds!

RAFIKI SAFARI CAMP
Situated on the border of Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, Rafiki Safari Camp is a peaceful and wild getaway. It has 6 double-tented en-suite chalets and a 5-camping site. The beds and beddings are of a high standard and very cosy. The lodge sits upon a small hill overlooking the bush, with the Bua River babbling away in the gorge below. This family owned and run eco-lodge offers warm hospitality and great facilities that are completely stunning. The little swimming pool is a welcome cooling-off remedy from the usual heat. You can relax on your private deck which makes a good spot to sip a glass of wine or read a book. Enjoy forest bathing in the woodland that surrounds the area as you comfortably detox from the usual digital life!

KUMBALI LAKE RETREAT

The place is secluded, has 5 thatched chalets, is open all year round and is very friendly to children. It is a rustic getaway to spend a family moment. If you want to relax and appreciate the peaceful surroundings, take one of the kayaks out, hike up the hill or relax in a sundowner boat trip, there’s plenty to do and enjoy during your stay here. Great place to take pictures of the African fish eagles while on a boat trip. With their eyes focused on food, you can watch them swoop down to the water as they catch their food and they do even get close to your boat. Very spectacular!
